๐ŸŠ๐Ÿผ WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿฟโ€โ™€๏ธ

Fina World Championships begin on Saturday. It is your standard 8 day marathon that will be over before you know it. Finals are at 12 PM EST on the Olympic Channel so perfect to flip on during your lunch break or your 2nd cup of coffee if you're on the West Coast.

We are missing a lot of big name, premier swimmers. Emma McKeon, Adam Peaty, Ariarne Titmus. All of Russia.

But a World title is still a World title.

Four Women Who Are Gunna Crush

Katie Ledecky is still in a league of her own when it comes to the 800 & 1500. In fact, she can make it 5x World Champ titles in a row in the 800 with a W in Budapest.

Titmus vs. Ledecky? How about Ledecky vs. McIntosh? A sub 4 minute performance seems inevitable and hopefully we it will come down to the final 50 meters. Can the teenage prodigy bring home the (Canadian) bacon?

I wonder if Ledecky is having 2nd thoughts about dropping this 200 Free. She's not buttttttt...Siobhan Haughey is injured. Pellegrini retired. Titmus isn't swimming. The 200 has Canada (Summer & Penny), Australia (Mollie & Madi), and China (Yang & Tang) written all over it. Throw in 1 American and Seemanova and there's your 200 Free Final.

This could be the big one for 16 year old Summer McIntosh. The 400 IM is hers to destroy. If she breaks 4 minutes and beats Katie Ledecky in the 400 Free, it'll be the storyline of the meet and Brett will salute her with the double guns. Summer should also be in the fight for both the 2 Free and the 2 Fly.

When we have guests on the podcast, you really get the opportunity to look into their eyes...and Kaylee McKeown has the eye of the tiger. She's not afraid of the fight and thrives under pressure. Dropping the 4IM gives her less to swim and less to focus on. Her vs. Regan Smith in the 100 is one of my most anticipated races of the week.

Lastly, I believe that Sarah Sjostrom is going to win the 50 Free, the 100 Free, and the 50 Fly. She's healthy, happy, and swimming fast. Sarah has been 24.0 and 25.0 in the 50 Free and Fly this year. All signs point to a Swede Sweep.

Four Men Who Are Gunna Crush

Caeleb Dressel is the easy pick (50 Free, 50 Fly, 100 Free, 100 Fly). Though, Kristof Milak should give him some trouble in the 100 Fly. Bruno in the 50.

Germany is loaded in the middle & distance freestyle events led by breakout 20 year old Lukas Martens (1:45/3:41/7:41/14:40). This time around everyone knows who Bobby Finke is and what Bobby Finke does. Don't think the world won't be ready for his 25 point final 50.

After Brett put out a couple of Dressel analysis swim videos, Ryan Murphy texted him asking him to do his race for him. That's the type of guy Murph is. He's still striving to be better, to go faster, to continue unlock his full potential. He is trying to learn from what fellow American Hunter Armstrong is doing to keep his tempo so high throughout the 100. I've got this sneaky feeling that American backstroke, after losing for the first time at the Olympics since you were probably born, is going to get back on track with victories here in all 3 races. Also doesn't hurt that Russia won't be there...

Which youngster is ready to stand atop the podium? David Popovici? Sunwoo Hwang? Matt Sates? Carson Foster? Leon Marchand?

Everywhere Matt Sates goes, he seems to win. NCAA's. Fina World Cup. Mare Nostrum. If he's next to you going down the stretch, you know he's got an extra gear and is going to eat your lunch.
