🏊‍♀️FAST SWIMS AROUND THE WORLD 🌎

At the Tokyo Swimming Center Invite (LCM), Japanese Olympian Reona Aoki put up the third fastest time in the world in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.98) since the World Championships in Fukuoka. The only woman faster since then has been Benedetta Pilato from the Budapest World Cup stop (1:05.75 and 1:05.83).

Another fast time from that meet included World Short Course Medalist Takeshi Kawamoto in the 100 Fly - 51.87.

Guilherme Da Costa - 200 Free - 1:46.85 // 400 Free - 3:48.31
Matheus Gonche - 100 Fly - 51.78
Maria Fernanda Costa - 400 Free - 4:09.11 // 200 Free - 1:58.26

Beatriz Dizzoti - 1500 Free - 16:24.52
Gabriel Silva Santos - 50 Free - 22.15
Luis Gustavo Borges - 50 Free - 22.18

Back in the pool as well was Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist, Bruno Fratus. Coming off multiple surgeries, he has been back training and seems to have recommitted to the sport. Though his 5th place B-final time wasn’t in the ballpark by his own standard, it was certainly a place to start.

New Zealand’s Top Swimmer, Lewis Clareburt, Leaves Wellington & His Coach

Donkey of the Day: the City of Wellington, as they have ostracized their top swimmer, Lewis Clareburt.

Lewis won Commonwealth Games titles in the 200 Fly and the 400 IM in Birmingham last year.

The craziest part is Lewis is leaving his long time coach, Gary Hollywood.

He will move to Auckland to finish his preparation for Paris.

This week on INSIDE with BRETT HAWKE...

#343 Meet Pieter Coetze, South Africa’s Backstroke King

The 19 year old has put the world on notice, as we head into the final ~250 days of preparation for the Olympics.

24.3/52.7/1:56.0 across the long course backstroke events - Pieter is looking at the podium in both the 100 & 200.

Brett asks him about his 200 Back race strategy, his decision NOT to come to the University of California, his future potential in the 2 IM, and if he thinks about the World Records at all...

Enjoy!
