Prelims Day 4 Recap
Leah Smith smashed her heat in a 4:04.8. Claire Weinstein, who got 2nd in the 200, was 4:10.9.
The 2nd fast heat was more competitive - excluding Ledecky. Katie Grimes, Bella Sims, and Hali Flickinger. go 2-3-4 in the heat and all make it back Top 8.
Bella Sims sticks to her breathing pattern: 3-2-2-3. Long Island Aquatic Club (LIAC) has been putting a lot of swimmers in Finals.
Predictions?The band is officially back! Ledecky goes 3:59.2. Leah Smith 4:03.7.
Texas freshman stud Luke Hobson dropped a couple more seconds off his best time this morning winning his heat over Florida's Trey Freeman while nearly breaking 3:50.
The final heat saw all 6 guys pretty bunched up together but Kieran Smith made sure everyone knows who the boss is.
If Carson Foster would swim this, I think he could take 2nd.
Predictions?Kieran Smith should be all over this field like white on rice. Will Charlie Clark make it 2 for 2 or does Texas have something to say about it? I'm taking Trey Freeman - his final 150 is going to be STRONG.
Annie Lazor won her heat in 1:07.0 by a large margin - she missed out in the 2 Breast to Kate Douglass so this is her final shot at making this team.
Lydia Jacoby - 1:07.5 - super comfortable swim for her this morning.
Nobody looked better taking it out this morning than Kaitlyn Dobler from USC.
Predictions?Lydia Jacoby is a pure racer. She's going to eat Kaitlyn Dobler's lunch coming home tonight. Lilly King wins, though.
Hey a Cody Miller sighting. This must be his only event bc he didn't swim the 50 yesterday.
Only two dudes under a minute. I think we all know how this race is going to end up tonight.
Zhier Fan giving USA a taste of what's to come. New PB and first time breaking 1:01. He will be a freshman at Stanford next year.
Predictions?Michael Andrew, Nic Fink 1-2.
Regan Smith came out swinging! She was out fast and back back fast, fueled by an excellent kick out off her turn. She's getting better and better as the meet goes on.
If she can reproduce that same swim tonight, the race is for 2nd. And boy what a race it is going to be! Four girls within .3 of each other.
Predictions?Regan Smith, Katharine Berkoff go 1-2.
Every time I watch Shaine Casas I feel like I see a different backstroke. Hunter Armstrong was in complete control. Murph had a great back half. Yet, Justin Ress is the top seed.

Predictions?Coming off a WR, your confidence can't be any higher. Hunter Armstrong for the win in 52.58. And, I think I learned my lesson in the 2 Back - I'm not betting against Murph.
